This session calls for short paper presentations, to be followed by a productive discussion/debate amongst presenters and attendees about the ramifications of social network science within art historical discourse. This session therefore asks: How can the concepts of network science be applied to art historical research? What new questions might be drawn from an exploration of social networks of the past? And how might artistic production itself be an instrumental component of, or even a vehicle for, networked action? If you want to turn on Snap Assist on Windows 10 because you want to resize windows manually and Snap Assist is getting in your way, here are the steps to follow – If you have three windows, you can make one to occupy 50%, and the other two windows take 25% respectively. In the above steps, we have snapped four windows and each occupying 25% of the screen on all four corners. Step 3: Similarly, open the other two windows and drag them to the empty corners. Step 2: Open another window and repeat the previous step. This will make the window occupy 25% of the screen at that corner. Step 1: Open the first window and drag it to the edge of the screen at any corner and leave. If you have a large screen, you can easily place more than two windows on one screen with clear visibility. Step 4: If you want to resize any window to full screen, press Window and Up arrow key together. Step 3: Open another window that you want to snap to the remaining empty space using the same key combination as in Step 2. Accordingly, the window will snap to the left or right half side of the screen. Step 2: Press Windows key and use Left or Right arrow key. Step 1: Open the window which you want to snap automatically. If you think the above-mentioned steps on enabling and using Snap Assist is too lengthy, Windows 10 has keyboard shortcuts to make things faster for you. Click and hold the line and drag the line to resize the windows as per your requirements. You can resize the windows by hovering the mouse pointer on the dividing line, and it will become a two-arrow pointer. Click on the one that you prefer, and all the other open windows will get resized and arranged accordingly. Step 5: If you have another application window open when you snap the first window, you will see various options to fill the other half of the screen with the other window. Step 4: Once you are happy with the outline, leave the window to get resized automatically as per the outline. Similarly, you can drag the window slightly outward of the edge if you want it to occupy the full screen. You can drag the window slightly down for the outline to occupy half of the screen. Generally, the outline will show that the window will occupy 25% of the screen on one side. Step 3: A translucent outline will appear showing the area where the window will be resized. Step 2: Click and drag the window to the edge of the screen. Step 1: Open the application window that you want to snap to one-half side of the screen. That is why top chess players favor this opening in “must-win” match situations. Imbalances will create more dynamic opportunities and thus black will get more winning chances than they would typically get from a more solid response. In the Benoni Defence, black’s overarching strategy is to create significant imbalances in the position. The Benoni Defense is an aggressive opening, from black’s perspective, characterized by the initial moves 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 c5, by which black intends to exchange their flank c-pawn for white’s central d-pawn. He referred to his writings as Ben-Oni (an ancient Hebrew name, meaning “son of my sorrow”). The name of this opening is linked to a book published in 1825, by Aaron Reinganum, who apparently studied chess to alleviate depression. Note: In chess, a gambit refers to an opening move in which a player makes a sacrifice, typically of a pawn, in return for a compensating advantage, such as speedy development of their pieces. If you play the Benko Gambit, you will likely get exciting opportunities against all but the most experienced opponents. However, white can always decline the gambit and they have many options to choose from. ![]() The Benko Gambit is an ideal opening for situations where black is willing to take on some risk–in return for increased winning chances. Benko Gambit Accepted Variationġ.d4 Nf6 2.c4 c5 3.d5 b5 4.cxb5 a6 The Pros and Cons of the Benko Gambit However, a popular response for white is to accept the gambit, leading to the Benko Gambit Accepted variation. If white declines the gambit then the game will likely enter a position resembling the Benoni Defense, and offers black a completely playable position. Black should approach these ideas energetically–or else risk losing the initiative if white finds the time to organize a solid defense. Black’s strategy is then further enhanced by placing a fianchettoed bishop on g7 which can potentially heap immense pressure on white’s queenside. The Benko Gambit is a rather unique response to 1.d4 where black wants to sacrifice a pawn in the hope to obtain lasting pressure–through active pieces and open files on the queen-side. Ironically though, in many cases the use of the word “defense” can be quite misleading, I.e. Note: When the word “defense” appears in the name of an opening, such as Alekhine’s Defense, it usually refers to a choice of opening by black. However, if you fail to properly execute your strategy, your opponent will enjoy a strong centre and your position will be cramped. You might even get an advantage if your inexperienced opponent is tempted to make too many pawn moves. Since white’s options are limited against Alekhine’s Defense you can force your opponent to play the opening on your terms. White doesn’t play 4.c4 and, instead, supports the centre with 4.Nf3.
